BGP overview

• BGP is a path vector protocol that uses TCP port 179 for reliable transport.
• Thiết lập TCP trước
• Khi cấu hình ACL phải permit port 179 ( permit 2 chiều TCP) đảm bảo TCP thiết lập

• BGP has no periodic updates, it uses triggered update (when available):
• Reliable update
• Triggered updates only.
• 5s for internal peers.
• 30s for external peers.

Note : BGP có thể vừa forward packet vừa tiến hành update . Có nghĩa là không cần thời gian hội tụ == >  là giao thức sử dụng trong mạng core đảm bảo mạng core hoạt động liên tục.

• Periodic keepalives are used to verify TCP connectivity:
• Default every 60s.
